So...

Who and What is Rags?

Rags is a digitally drawn inedible Gingerbread man. I use the app Procreate and an iPad to draw him. My earlier artworks were drawn using pencil, pen and sharpie markers.

Rags is based on a toy gingerbread man. He was a gift from one of my support workers (See About Me). He is made of cloth- Hence the name Rags.

Rags used to come everywhere with me, once I started getting better he happily retired from his adventures and 'returned' to the far away land.

Even though he is 'retired' that doesn't stop him getting himself into mischief!

Daisy-May

Hi my name is Rags. Just plain Rags. (No fancy double barrel for me) I live in a teapot in a far away land and my human friend Daisy, draws and documents my adventures. Three things I like are:

Swimming
Pizza
Tea

I CANNOT tell you the name of the far away land, but I can tell you this; The far away land is divided into multiple territories.

I resided in my green teapot in relative peace and had no real interest in exploring the other territories...

In the south there is a terrifying tundra in which a two headed beast roams. In the west there lives a mighty fine beast called Aurum.

Aurum has the head of a giraffe, the torso of a scaled beast, the behind of a lion and finally a magnificent plumage that would put the most proud of peacocks to shame.

To the east there is a great and formidable coven...Well that's enough yapping from me...

This is one of my earliest Rags' drawings that I still have in my possession.

I favour this artwork because it represents a change and milestone moment in my artistic development.

Before this I struggled with creating artworks with a background-A skill I have since improved over time.

A world of pure imagination

This piece is inspired by the very famous: Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory.

This scene features Rags' and his friend Patches.

They are taking a stroll through their candy themed world on a unicorn made out of ice cream. Aptly named:

Mint Choc-o-chip.

The princess and the frog

My take on a classic tale. Sadly for Patches (judging by the size), I think she may of bagged herself, a toad...

Fishing

Personally I find fishing very boring. But not when mermaids are concerned.

Looks like Rags' has snagged one.

Starry Night

Princess

This piece was a precursor to a birthday card I designed for a little princess.

Needless to say said Princess was thrilled with it and so was I.

The Dark Phoenix saga

I grew up loving a certain cartoon show in the 90s.

The X-men no less. Now it boasts a long list of live action films, none of which par up to this amazing cartoon!

The original Dark Phoenix Saga was one of my favourite storylines.

I am very much interested in the history of Jack the Ripper.

I really wish we could find out who he was, however I think if we knew that we wouldn’t be as interested in the case!

This piece was for a friend of mine who lost her cat.

I don’t have any pets currently, but I did in the past.

I miss them, but I know they are all waiting for me at rainbow bridge.

Here is my tribute: the scene in which Gene Kelly dances in the rain is one of my favourite moments from the movie.

On the bridge

This piece was the first time I drew Rags’ significant other: Patches’.
Patches’ now sports pink patches instead of blue. The blossoms represent the fragility of life and relationships.

Shipwrecked

This piece is based on the little mermaid -with the roles reversed.

Patches is the princess in need of aid. Rags’ is her Merman hero!

Axoloti

I love researching different creatures to draw. The Axolotl is a weird and wonderful sea creature. Here Rags’ makes friends with not one, but two little axolotl.

The golden gate

An ancient Japanese tale tells of a school of koi swimming upstream. Finally one koi reached the top of the waterfall. The gods recognised the koi for it’s perseverance and determination and turned it into a dragon-the image of power and strength.

Selfie

This piece started as a bit of fun but has a deeper meaning. Sometimes we are so busy with our social media and taking photos we forget the beauty that is around us. Rags’ should really put that phone down and be inspired by the beauty that surrounds him.
