So...
Who and What is Rags?
Rags is a digitally drawn inedible Gingerbread man. I use the app Procreate and an iPad to draw him. My earlier artworks were drawn using pencil, pen and sharpie markers.
Rags is based on a toy gingerbread man. He was a gift from one of my support workers (See About Me). He is made of cloth- Hence the name Rags.
Rags used to come everywhere with me, once I started getting better he happily retired from his adventures and 'returned' to the far away land.
Even though he is 'retired' that doesn't stop him getting himself into mischief!
I hope you will all enjoy catching up on his adventures.
My Adventures as documented by the human known as: Daisy-May
Hi there! I’m Rags. Just Rags. (No posh double barrel surname for me, thanks.)
I live inside a green teapot nestled in a faraway land. My human friend Daisy is the artist behind my escapades. Daisy draws and documents all the mischief I get up to.
Three things I adore:
🫖 Tea
🍕 Pizza
🏊♂️ Swimming (though not always gracefully)
Now, I can’t reveal the name of my faraway homeland it’s classified but I can tell you this: It’s split into several wild and wonderful territories. I used to live peacefully in my cosy teapot, minding my own crumbs. No interest in wandering… until curiosity came knocking.
In the south, a bone-chilling tundra stretches out, home to a fearsome two-headed beast.
In the west, you’ll find Aurum. A majestic creature with the head of a giraffe, a scaly torso, the bottom of a lion, and tail feathers so fabulous they make peacocks weep with jealousy.
To the east? A powerful coven whispers secrets through the wind... but that’s a tale for another time.
Anyway, that’s enough rambling from me.
Come explore my world.
Rags.

At the time, I found backgrounds especially challenging, often avoiding them altogether. But this piece was the beginning of me pushing through that block and since then, I’ve grown so much in that area.

In this scene, Rags and his loyal companion Patches set off on a delightful adventure through their own candy-coated wonderland. The trees are spun sugar, the rivers flow with raspberry sherbet, and the clouds above are fluffy mounds of marshmallow.
Their chosen mode of transport? A majestic unicorn sculpted entirely from swirls of ice cream, with mint green fur, chocolate chip freckles, and a soft waffle cone horn. This frosty steed is fondly named Mint Choc-o-chip. A gentle giant who trots through fudge fields and over jellybean bridges without melting under the magic of their sugary skies.
It’s a scene that captures not only the sweetness of friendship, but the endless possibilities of a world built from imagination (and a little bit of dessert).

The one where a kiss is meant to reveal a handsome prince in disguise.
But alas, things don’t always go quite to plan…
Poor Patches, ever the romantic, may have gotten a little carried away with the magic of the moment.
Judging by the rather compact size of her companion, it seems she might’ve ended up with… well… just a toad.
No royal crown, no grand transformation, just one very confused amphibian and a slightly disappointed plush.
Still, she says love comes in all shapes and sizes (and species), so perhaps it’s the start of an unexpected love story after all.

Suddenly, it’s not about sitting in silence or waiting endlessly for something to nibble at the line… it becomes a magical adventure full of mystery and unexpected encounters beneath the waves.
Just ask Rags! It looks like he’s had quite the surprise, instead of a slippery fish, he’s somehow managed to snag a mermaid.
Whether she was curious, clumsy, or simply in the mood for a chat, we may never know. But judging by the look on Rags’ face, it’s safe to say this was not your average day by the water.
Fishing? Still not for me.
But magical mermaids? Count me in.

Could it be a life-altering epiphany? A sudden spark of brilliance that will change everything?
…Or is he simply wondering what’s for tea?
I’ll leave that one up to you.

It all started with this piece, which helped shape the magical theme and dreamy details that would eventually come together in the final card.
From the colours to the characters, every element was carefully chosen with her in mind. I wanted it to feel like something straight out of her imagination.
Something that would make her eyes light up the moment she saw it.
Needless to say, the princess was over the moon when she received it. Her excitement and big smile made all the effort completely worthwhile. And if I’m honest, I was just as thrilled.
There’s something truly special about creating art that brings joy to someone else’s world, especially on their birthday.

X-Men: The Animated Series.
Long before the world was filled with big-budget live-action films, it was this incredible cartoon that brought the mutants to life in all their bold, emotional, and action-packed glory.
And honestly? None of the movie adaptations have quite managed to match the magic of that original series.
One storyline that always stood out to me was The Dark Phoenix Saga. It was dramatic, powerful, and beautifully told.
This little piece of fan art is my tribute to that unforgettable era.
I hope it brings a bit of that nostalgic spark to you too.

From colourful window displays to the scent of fresh donuts drifting through the air, she’s soaking up every second of the experience.
Bags in hand, sparkles in her eyes, and already planning her next stop.
Rags, on the other hand? Not quite as enthusiastic.
While Patches bounces from shop to shop, Rags is trailing behind with a look that says, "How much longer is this going to take?" He's more of a homebody than a high-street adventurer and he definitely wasn’t prepared for the marathon that is shopping with Patches.
Still, deep down (waaaay down), he enjoys seeing her so happy… even if his arms are aching and he still doesn’t understand the appeal of scented candles.

Because dreams, no matter how distant, give us direction. They give us purpose, fuel, and that little spark that keeps us reaching upward. And if, along the way, you stumble or fall short… that’s okay.
Even then, you’ll find yourself surrounded by stars, glimmers of hope, lessons learned, unexpected victories, and quiet moments of beauty you may never have discovered otherwise.
So keep aiming high. Because sometimes, it’s not just about reaching the moon, it’s about discovering the magic in the journey.

Rags is proudly out and about, taking his pet worm, yes, you heard that right, a worm, for a walk. No leash required (just a lot of patience), and apparently, it’s a perfectly normal afternoon in Rags’ world.
Why a worm, you ask? Your guess is as good as mine.
But according to Rags, worms make surprisingly loyal companions. Quiet, low maintenance, and excellent listeners. Just don’t expect them to fetch a stick or do tricks.
Honestly, at this point, I’ve stopped asking questions.
It’s Rags.
He does things his way.

Part of me genuinely wishes we could discover who he truly was, to finally solve one of history’s most infamous crimes. But at the same time, I can’t help but think that the mystery is what keeps us so intrigued.
If we knew his identity, perhaps the story wouldn’t hold quite the same eerie allure.

To be honest, I didn’t set out with a clear plan in mind when creating this illustration. It began as a casual experiment, just me playing around with different poses and character interactions. But as the shapes and expressions started to form, something sweet and gentle unfolded on the page.
There’s a quiet warmth between them that I didn’t anticipate a sense of closeness that captured my heart as I sketched.
Sometimes the best pieces come from those unplanned moments, where the characters seem to lead the way and the story builds itself. This is definitely one of those times.

It was my way of offering a little comfort through art, a small tribute to a companion who had clearly meant the world to her.
I don’t have any pets at the moment, but I’ve been lucky enough to share my life with a few in the past.
Each one left pawprints on my heart, and not a day goes by that I don’t think of them with love and gratitude.
Though they’re no longer by my side, I like to believe they’re all waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge, tails wagging, purring softly, and ready for one more cuddle when the time is right.
Until then, they live on in memories, sketches, and quiet little moments like this.

As a little tribute, I wanted to capture one of the most iconic and magical moments from the movie: the unforgettable scene where Gene Kelly dances joyfully in the rain.
There’s something so timeless, so effortlessly charming about it, pure cinematic magic.
No matter how many times I watch it, that moment never fails to make me smile.
This piece is my way of celebrating the joy, nostalgia, and brilliance that scene continues to bring.

There’s just something about the ocean that brings him to life. Whether he’s weaving through coral castles, chatting with curious seahorses, or basking in the glow of glittering jellyfish, Rags simply loves life beneath the waves.
With a swish of his shimmering tail and a song in his heart, he explores the deep blue with a sense of wonder and freedom. No clocks, no worries, just bubbles, sea breezes, and the gentle sway of the current.
Yes, Rags is perfectly content in his watery world.
After all… everything’s better, down where it’s wetter under the sea.

Turns out, Rags shares that same fascination.
Whether he’s stargazing from a hilltop or imagining himself aboard a rocket ship, Rags is completely enchanted by the cosmos.
He dreams of floating weightlessly among the stars, making friends with aliens, and discovering candy-coated planets in far-off galaxies.
There’s something magical about the unknownthe idea that there's always more to explore beyond the next constellation. For both of us, space represents not just science or adventure, but possibility.
Who knows what’s out there?
One thing's for sure: if anyone’s going to boldly go where no gingerbread has gone before... it’s Rags.

The very first time I introduced Rags’ significant other, the lovely Patches.
Back then, Patches was originally drawn with soft blue markings, but over time, her look evolved to feature her now-signature pink patches.
The change felt right a gentle, heartfelt colour that suited her personality and spirit perfectly.
The cherry blossoms in the background weren’t just for decoration. They were carefully chosen to symbolise the delicate beauty of life and relationships.
Just like blossoms, love can be fleeting, tender, and full of quiet strength. It reminds us to treasure the moments, hold on to what matters, and grow together even through seasons of change.
This drawing means a lot to me, not only as the debut of Patches, but as a quiet reflection on love, connection, and the ever-evolving journey of two little gingerbread hearts.

Rags’ rootin’-tootin’ cowboy cousin all the way from the sun-drenched deserts of Arizona!
With his trusty hat, worn boots, and a lasso that’s seen a fair share of wild adventures, Gerald is the real deal. He spends his days riding tumbleweeds, herding imaginary cattle (mostly plush), and sipping sweet tea under a cactus-shaped parasol.
While Rags prefers the calm comforts of home or whimsical sea voyages, Gerald is all about the Wild West. Campfire stories, starlit skies, and the occasional duel with a runaway tumbleweed, it’s just another day in Gerald’s world.
Yee-haw.
Every family needs a cowboy, and Gerald brings a little extra grit, charm, and wild adventure to the gingerbread clan.

So, you can imagine his excitement when he stumbled upon a mysterious glimmer coming from beneath a pile of old leaves.
With curiosity in his eyes and a hopeful skip in his step, Rags uncovered what appeared to be a long-forgotten treasure chest, overflowing with gold coins, sparkling gems, and curious trinkets from another time.
His heart nearly leapt out of his gingerbread chest!
But just as he reached for a particularly dazzling ruby… he heard a low growl behind him.
Turns out, Rags isn’t the only one drawn to treasure. Someone or something has also been keeping an eye on this hidden hoard.
Stay sharp, Rags. This shiny adventure just turned into a daring escape.

my path begins,
a journey calling from deep within.
Into the woods I go,
beyond the trees and tangled roots,
toward whatever fate may grow.
(Inspired by the 2014 film Into the Woods)

Instead of a mermaid longing for life on land, we have Patches as the curious princess in need of rescue. And who comes to her aid?
None other than Rags, our brave and bashful Merman hero.
With shimmering scales and a heart full of courage, Rags dives to the rescue, ready to face whatever dangers the ocean holds. It’s a tale of friendship, bravery, and flipping the fairytale script, proving that sometimes, the hero wears fins, and the princess is just as adventurous beneath the waves.

Especially the weird and wonderful ones that spark the imagination.
One of my favourites has to be the axolotl, a curious little aquatic creature with feathery gills, a permanent smile, and an almost magical presence.
In this piece, Rags finds himself beneath the surface, where he stumbles upon not one, but two friendly axolotls.
Intrigued by their wiggly charm and playful nature, he quickly makes new friends in the shimmering depths.
It’s a gentle reminder that sometimes the oddest creatures are the most delightful and that the underwater world still has plenty of surprises waiting to be discovered.

– Albert Einstein

Their journey led them to the base of a towering waterfall, a final test of strength and spirit. Many koi turned back, worn down by the impossible challenge.
But one single koi, smaller than the rest, refused to surrender. With every ounce of energy, it fought the rushing water, leaping again and again, climbing higher with each effort.
At last, after a long and grueling struggle, the koi reached the top of the waterfall.
The Gods, moved by the fish’s relentless perseverance and courage, rewarded its spirit.
In an act of divine honour, they transformed the koi into a magnificent dragon, a symbol of power, wisdom, and strength.
To this day, the koi represents resilience, ambition, and the belief that even the smallest creature can rise to greatness through courage and determination.

At first glance, it’s just Rags snapping photos on his phone a familiar scene in today’s world.
But look a little closer, and there’s something more to it.
Sometimes we get so caught up in capturing the perfect moment for social media, the filters, the angles, the scrolling.
That we forget to actually live in the moment. We miss the magic unfolding around us in real time.
In this scene, Rags is surrounded by natural beauty the kind that doesn’t need editing or hashtags.
But he’s glued to his screen, missing it all. It’s a gentle reminder (for him and for us) to occasionally put the phone down, take a deep breath, and be present. Because sometimes, the most inspiring sights are the ones we don’t post… but simply experience.
