I would like to introduce you all to a very special friend of mine called Captain Bulldog.
Captain Bulldog is a proud vintage plush from the 90s.
He is a Patamates bulldog with a heart full of stories and a very dashing flying jacket to match. I used to care for his Grandpappy, Captain Bulldog Senior, when I was a little girl. He was a loyal companion, and when my Grandad passed away, I imagined Captain Senior taking one final mission — to heaven — to look after him.
Years later, this Captain appeared on eBay, looking for a new home. It felt like fate. Of course, I invited him to move in with us, and he settled in straight away with a love of biscuits and the occasional tot of rum, in honour of Grandad who served in the Royal Navy.
But unlike Grandad, who sailed the seas, Captain Bulldog soars through the skies. He’s the captain of the air and he’s never seen without his trusty flying helmet and jacket, ready for adventure at a moment’s notice. Whether he’s exploring new places, starring in my illustrations, or tagging along on real-life travels, Captain Bulldog is more than just a plush — he’s family, memory, and imagination all stitched into one brave little pup.
